Questions

What does one request cost?

$0.0004, which is $0.40 per thousand calls. One API call is one request, and one request returns one Instagram page. There is no plan to choose and no balance threshold that changes the rate.

Why do stories and highlights cost double?

They need two Instagram requests to answer instead of one, so they cost $0.0008. Looking a user up by username is the third such call, because it resolves the handle to a numeric id first. Cache the id and subsequent calls are the normal rate.

What happens when a scrape fails?

You are not billed. Only 2xx responses cost anything. A deleted post, a private account, a rate limit, or an upstream failure all return an error envelope and leave your balance untouched.

Does my balance expire?

No. It is a dollar balance, it does not expire, and there is no monthly minimum or subscription. The minimum deposit is $5.

Are there rate limits?

Yes. Each API key has a request rate limit and a concurrency cap. Hitting either returns 429, which is not billed. If you need a higher ceiling, ask and we will raise it.

Can I get a refund?

Unused balance can be discussed with support. Balance already spent on successful calls is not refundable, because the data was delivered. The refund policy has the details.

What data can I access?

Public Instagram data reachable through the 37 endpoints: profiles, posts, comments, likers, followers and following, stories, highlights, hashtags, locations, and audio.

How long does migrating from other providers take?

Rarely more than an hour if you hand it to your AI agent. The changes are mechanical: swap the base URL, swap the auth header, and translate the paths. Our HikerAPI migration guide ends with a prompt you can paste straight into your agent.
